This course centers on motivation as the driving force behind personal change and health improvement. Through a detailed, action-oriented approach, students will learn how to engage, focus, evoke, and evaluate change in diverse settings. The course emphasizes the critical roles of relationship-building and ambivalence as key factors in the change process, providing practical strategies for addressing these in everyday practice. In addition to theoretical knowledge, students will participate in an integrated experiential component, and developing skills to create a formal change plan. Special attention is given to the use of these skills in a variety of behavioral health, healthcare, and rehabilitation settings.
