PSY-410: Psychiatric Rehabilitation

This course provides a comprehensive overview of programmatic areas in rehabilitation, with applications in areas such as child and adult mental health, intellectual disabilities, brain injury, dementia care, and corrections settings. Key topics include varying levels of care/assistance, the Recovery Model, co-occurring life challenges, employment and education services, residential care, socialization, self-help and peer services, and disability assessment. Students will explore introductory methods for assessing disability and independent functioning.  The course also introduces a range of valuable resources, including the "Evidence-Based Practices Resource Center" from the SAMHSA website, and materials from the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, equipping students with evidence-based tools and insights for effective rehabilitation practices.
